Pros

Sephora employees receive extensive training on the products sold there. There are trainings in New York and San Francisco as well as in-store trainings by individual brands. At all of these trainings you receive gratis. The amount of free product you receive through Sephora is astounding!

Cons

One of the biggest problems I had with Sephora was their utter lack of concern regarding shoplifters. Sephora has a return policy that can be easily taken advantage of, basically they take anything back. No matter if you have a receipt or not, if the product is used, if the product is old, etc. you can return it. People would come in and grab product right off the shelves, steal it, then return it at another Sephora location. In fact, someone could actually witness someone steal in front of you and not do anything! Besides the shoplifting issue, Sephora management was pretty ineffective. Also the whole work-life-balance philosophy of theirs is a joke!

Pros

+ monthly training gratis + brand and product training + exposure to working with luxury brands + technology device supplements role

Cons

- unstable hours / unstable income - part-time employee classification has a wide weekly hourly gap (e.g., 15-29 weekly hours) and the availability expectation is that of a full-time (e.g., required to be open 4-5 a week, open to close) - minimal career growth if wanting to become full-time within the same store
