Pros

Sephora does care about it's employees, but seemingly more at the lower level. Plenty of opportunity to move up if you are just starting your management career and they give you a lot of opportunity for growth if you put forth an effort. As a Store Director in St Louis, the DM and RVP have not been Store Directors in their past so a lot of miscommunication or a lack of general understanding of the job, time involved in completing tasks, very high expectations.

Cons

As a Store Director in St Louis, the DM and RVP have not been Store Directors in their past so a lot of miscommunication or a lack of general understanding of the job, time involved in completing tasks, very high expectations. Sephora always has about 3 or 4 "focuses", which makes it hard to focus on just one thing and get it mastered. Despite the great client service, it seems clients are never happy, which leads to more stress.

Pros

fun getting gratis and hosting in-store events, meeting brand ambassadors/managers, socializing with clients

Cons

manager created a weird environment -- coaching moments were sometimes extremely aggressive for a retail environment; strict on not applying makeup to clients unless they purchase a service. once made me move from a disabled client quickly because I was "spending too much time with them" and to further boost the store sales. felt extremely unethical.
