Pros

Philips has an excellent benefits package, certainly better than a comparably sized global company that I worked with previously. Overall, I think Philips makes good products and is an average place to work, in terms of advancement, recognition and career aspirations. I'm so frustrated working here that I'm struggling to find many "Pros".

Cons

I have never worked for a more dysfunctional organization in my career. Senior management routinely make poor strategic decisions and leave the rank and file to try and make the most of it. The "high potential" program cuts both ways - if you aren't a designated HYPO, you are going nowhere and those that do get designated, get a lot of responsibility thrown at them with little or no support from management. The basic philosophy is to only invest the bare minimum in the business and hope for the absolute best results.

Pros

The people in non- upper management roles that work there are fantastic. Great sense of community onsite and the culture champions are consistently looking for ways to make work life better.

Cons

Very poor communication on the strategy for the business unit. Leadership publicly promotes innovation and new ideas to be presented but then those ideas are shot down or penalized in private by current upper management. The business unit leadership says that don't want excuses for project delays but will then decide to do 3 major layoffs in the first two quarters with no transition plan, no support for gap in resources and no expectations to delayed progress.
