Pros

50% uncapped discount on almost all products. Free products which were out of date/broken Extensive training for product knowledge Fun training activities which made learning more enjoyable Fun interactions with customers

Cons

There was a lot of pressure to upsell as much as possible, but at times this was made difficult. You would be told to try sell X amount of shower gels and then be moved to the other side of the store. Targets were never strict but you wouldn't be looked on favourably if you weren't doing well. Because of individual targets we had to set, there was a lot of competition between staff which made quite an uncomfortable environment as everyone was just trying to do well. Management were very pushy about what to say to customers, and would hover over you to correct you when the customer had left. I was reprimanded for asking customers 'how are you' to begin consultations. Even if you were trying to do everything right you were constantly getting negative feedback When you were put in a quiet area of the store you would usually clean, tidy and organise those products, but at times we were also reprimanded for doing this, but were given nothing else to do. You always had to look busy for customers even when the shop was dead, but there wasn't much you could actually do to stay busy. There was a clear hierarchy between temp staff and permanent staff, and the permanent staff would be allowed to get away with a lot of things the temps were given in trouble for. The company champions sustainability but a lot of their in store practices are not sustainable

Pros

Excellent inclusive company culture, employee discount, learning about natural ingredients for skincare, genuinely great and engaged team members, flexible work schedule for part time or casual positions.

Cons

High amount of work, unreasonable "evidence driven" feedback and coaching models, and unrealistic performance metrics for comically low pay, especially for floor coordinators. No additional pay given for specialty roles, which is many enhanced responsibilities over a specific area of the business, and little opportunity for career growth beyond the sales floor unless you are hired from an external management position. Floor Coordinator seems to be the highest rung most people can hit before being driven elsewhere.
