R&D engineers are treated well compared to sales, marketing and planning departments. CTO organization has nice culture 4. relatively small numbers of employees and high performance compared to other IT companies 5. most of the employees are proud of being a member of the company 6. Good strategic direction of LG group currently (providing smart home in the future). expect to grow more

1. Conservative and military-like culture 2. Promotion is not only based on capacity and outcome but age and political issues 3. Women are discriminated; 1) elder employees even don't know how to deal with female employees, 2) sexual harassment occurs very often and the victims cannot sue assailants because they are not protected and involuntarily revealed 3) women are forced to adapt male-centered society 4. relatively low wage, overtime pay is stated in regulation but cannot request 5. focus on technologies itself, less focus on the commercialization, marketing and branding 6. each department excludes other departments and doesn't want responsibilities 7. some senior management insults employee's character 8. external awareness of company culture could be a kind of fantasy and advertisement of company 9. feel inferior to Samsung

Pros

LG used to be my dream job. 5 years ago, Every good part of LG ended. They preach all day about wellness, work life balance, and investing in their employees. And they used to do just that but not any more. Their 100% paid insurance is literally the only perk and its a trap.

Cons

They take motivated and competent individuals and shackle them with the workload of 5 or 6 people while telling them they aren't good enough, not doing enough, even though they are somehow finding a way to juggle all of the immense workload. PTO is a joke and no one respects it, they will call and ask you to work on your PTO, on weekends and at 10pm. They have no shame. The compensation is entirely below the bar even with 100% paid insurance. Promotions & Raises? Those only go to Koreans. Its gone so far down hill in the last 5 years. The culture in that office is so toxic but the job market is so restricted that you can't leave.
