Pros
Nice office, generally nice people - lots of goodwill, friendly and they will lean in to solve problems (this becomes taken advantage of). Pays well. Convenient location for a lot of the workforce. Established brands in the markets.
Cons
Business strategy - lots of good intent but over promising and under delivering, patience from the city is running out. Competitors eating away at market share in the meantime, company not making the gains it should be from Homebase's demise. Not agile enough, a long way behind where need to be digitally, mired in complexity/ cultural tension, tied in knots. Doesn't address problems with long term solutions - quick fixes that stay in place for years which adds to the complexity. Strange flavour of digital transformation. Not going anywhere fast. Too many old guard on the board, lifers who have been with the company too long. Desperately needs fresh talent with external experience and charisma. This breeds downwards - proportion of the workforce that are lifers and not really performing and aren't moved out. Need fresh talent at lower levels to progress the culture. Stuck in its ways in its thinking. Social approach to performance management. Needs more balance on the board too from a gender and nationality perspective. Culture - trying to be global but large cultural divide and tension between Anglo - French, unhealthy. Policies - too many are aligned to stores which makes them below standard for professionals. IT - KITS operate with a 1990s approach to IT and have a stranglehold on the business debilitating it.
