Pros

The only plus side of working in KFC is, because the shifts are long working hours our staff have become like a family as we spend all day, almost everyday together, helping each other get through our shifts.

Cons

The training provided for this job isn't good at all. There is a high number of staff that can't speak English, some staff are hired simply because they are the Mangers friend. When running my own shifts I can't communicate with these staff members. Customers become extremely frustrated and constantly complain, which is understandable, in turn the staff who don't speak English get to do the more favourable jobs, which involve not dealing with customers, this is unfair towards the staff who provide excellent customer service and never get a chance to do other enjoyable task that doesn't involve serving customers simply because they speak English. The scheme for hiring used in many stores is simply who you know as opposed to what you know. Our manager is also foreign and speaks little English too. She has hired many of her friends, brought then from her country to work at our store. This isn't how staff should be hired, we should advertise and get the best staff rather than staff that no one can communicate with! The working hours are hectic and the shifts are extremely long. Most people never get a weekend off, there isn't a schedule that give everyone their fair amount of weekends off. The salary is minimum wage however the company has so many procedures and standards that involve such hard work for very little money. When serving on the till I would easy make £80 per day on "upsales" this is suggestive selling such as "Would you like to go large", our sales are constantly rising but the company has taken away all forms of bonus' and pay rises. Through my years of working for KFC, it has become increasingly more un-enjoyable and not worthwhile, now I dont do any form of upsales what so ever, my upsales now are maybe £15pd and it's only as the customer request Large or AddOns themselves. The company cares less about it staff than they ever did before so in turn all our staff at my store hate the company they work for.

Pros

Working at KFC has several advantages. One major benefit is the flexible scheduling, which makes it a good option for students or people with other jobs. The position is also entry-level friendly, meaning employees typically do not need prior experience to get hired. In addition, the fast-paced environment can make shifts feel shorter and more engaging. Many employees also enjoy the team atmosphere and develop friendships with their coworkers. Another advantage is the availability of employee discounts or free food during shifts, as well as the potential for advancement into shift leader or management roles.

Cons

However, there are also some disadvantages to working at KFC. The pay is often relatively low, usually close to minimum wage. The job can be physically demanding, requiring employees to stand for long periods, work in a hot kitchen, and perform tasks such as lifting and cleaning. The work environment can also be messy due to grease and food preparation. Additionally, the job can be stressful during busy hours, especially when dealing with long lines or high customer demand. Employees may also have to handle difficult or impatient customers, which can be challenging. Finally, work schedules may be inconsistent, with hours varying from week to week.
