Pros

The majority of people are still able to work from home the majority of the time. This is a great benefit because the facility is located in an area with generally bad traffic with the ever present chance of really bad traffic if anyone messes up on the highway. The people who work there are generally very competent and helpful, wiling to share information and provide help as they are able. This is important because the core product is a large and complex software application and few people know all of what's in it unless they have many years of experience. The workload will keep you busy but is generally not overwhelming.

Cons

The portion of the company in Pittsburgh has changed names over the years by being purchased by larger companies but this location can trace its history back to its founding by George Westinghouse in 1881. So while it is a "technology" company, it's never been and doubtfully will ever be at the cutting edge. Most aspects of engineering are pretty basic so it's probably not the best place to be starting your career in most specialties. The software (C++ mostly) is old and generally just grows - no disruptive changes. The engineering is a bit dated and does not generally use current tools or practices so you won't be building the best resume for the future.

Pros

Nice location near downtown and Southside. Half the building has a view of the river. Benefits are competitive (medical, dental, vision). Free garage parking across the street.

Cons

The employee perks have continuously declined over time. They used to have a nice catered Christmas party that disappeared during the pandemic and never returned. They used to have a common sense policy for meals while traveling, but that was just replaced with limits for each meal that are inadequate if you are traveling to a major city. They are also starting to track how many days each person comes to the office and seem to value that more than the results produced by each person. The company also does not reward people for going above and beyond, such as working significant overtime, working night shift at site, etc.
