Pros

You get an okay paycheck for not being experienced, but after 3 or 4 months it becomes clear you're being underpaid.

Cons

No protection from contractors lowering pay. Fedex constantly undermines the delivery drivers and are extremely petty. No quality job training, I have seen multiple new drivers start driving without taking their driving test. Lot's of fraternization and favoritism among contractors and Fedex Managers. No room for advancement, as in you're a driver and that is all they will ever let you be. Absolutely no concern for your safety or well being, You're just a warm body to them. The contractor system is setup to give Fedex a way to never take responsibility and always put everything on drivers. No accountability for their own employees, they are not required to take drug tests, don't get reprimanded for throwing packages, etc.. No health insurance, no paid time off or vacation days, A driver once stepped off her truck and broke her ankle while at the terminal and did not receive any kind of workmans comp . We're constantly advised to lie about log in and drive times, which is a DOT violation. In summary, they don't care about you and this should only be a temporary job so you have a chance at getting an ok paycheck until you find a better job.

Pros

One of the benefits they list to get you in the door is TOP RATE pay*. The top rate is currently unknown but general consensus is 20 years to top rate pay. If you love standing around making up stories in your own head for two hours while spreading rumors amongst your unabashed co-workers about other co-workers you’ve interacted 2 minutes in the year you’ve worked together then this job is for you! Minimal logic involved.

Cons

Fellow employees will unionize to get you out of your route. Employees will make up stories to pit employees against one another. Fellow employees will threaten other employees for being friendly to one another. The management is willing bend over backwards to give you a bad review if leaving for another job. Co-workers are extremely bored and in most cases workload differs dramatically depending on where you are on the sort.
