Pros

You are guarenteed 40 hours a week. With major possibilites for overtime up to a total of 84 hours a week or a max of 12 hours a day. Thats depending on your location. I work at Fuel Systems Plant. I have heard that you can work 16 hours a day for a total of 112, but they just laid off over 100 people so... You get 3 breaks a day that are controlled by a bell. Almost all the jobs in production, which is where i work, are pretty easy and laid back. The machines I run have a cycle time of 30 minutes between gage checks. So thats a lot of time to do whatever. There are computers in every department that are for business purposes, but you can surf the web on them. As long as you do it in moderation then the management doesn't mind it.

Cons

The managers don't seem to respect the employees. Those being the shift managers. All line managers, directors, and higher management treat people with respect for the most part. New policies just came out that took away most ways to get a day off. Now you get an occurence for calling in sick even if you have a doctors slip. Although with a doctors slip you only get 1 occurnce for however many days you are off for. One of the major things that aggrevates me about cummins is the profit sharing. Our profit sharing is based off a couple factors. The major factor in how much we get is safety. If someone gets hurt and its a recordable our share of the profit goes down. Thats the case even if its the companies fault. For example, an employee recently lost a finger because the safety devices on the machine all stopped working. Cummins has a safety department thats supposed to keep you safe. Not very comforting when they dont go back and check things like that. They also have books called MSDS. They have information about chemicals and what to do if something happens. One thing that is not in there is information about the ppe, personal protective equipment. For example, recently i had a bad allergic reaction to sulfa that was used on gloves before they were sent to cummins. I am highly allergic to sulfa and cummins knows this, you have to go through their health care system called COHA. You would think that they would keep track of chemicals used on items they buy. They do not and had to contact the manufacturer to figure it out. I lost a day of work from this and still got an occurence even though it was because of work.

Pros

Most the people are okay. BUT this place is TOXIC AF They do not give you a 30min lunch, they take 30min out of your check, but they give you 30min away from your machine, so if you have to walk 2 to 3 min to and from your zone you barely get 25min for lunch, One of the new people was clocking out for 30 min for their lunch and was actually told if you clock out for 30 min you have taken a longer lunch than you are allowed.

Cons

Upper Management doesn't care or doesn't listen to employees, There is nothing on earth that will make people want to be there for 13days in a row, I used to hear at Cummins you have to follow the standard work, now its do whatever you have to to get your numbers. You DO NOT Provide enough time off, not when you are running people 13d in a row. you provide enough time off for a 40h work week nothing more, Get it into your thick skulls.
