Pros

- Met some great people at Capco who I have still kept in touch with

Cons

- If you’re not on a contract role and on the bench for over 4 months you are considered as being at risk. Unfortunately if you’re not billing, the company will see no use for you. - There is no transparency or direction for roles available presently or in the future. They have a portal where you can apply for roles but when you’re a UX designer these specialist role’s don’t get listed often. - You hear rhetorics about how we’re doing well and we having nothing to worry about. But when you see people departing regularly, you have to start questioning things. In the past month or 2 around 6 people supposedly left the team. - People higher up who are well connected and part of the leadership team are safe. - They use the pretence of doing work on the bench to test you out and let you go if you make minor faults. They will find any excuse.

Capco Response

We are disappointed to read your comments. We provide regular updates on the business strategy, including areas of focus and our client portfolio. This includes quarterly Town Halls with an opportunity for Q&A with our leadership team, as well as domain and capability events and other forums. We have a dedicated Resourcing team and portal for managing role assignments and provide support to those on the bench seeking new roles. As a consulting firm we expect some employees to spend some time on the bench in between projects, such is the nature of our business. While on the bench employees undertake a variety of business-related tasks while preparing for their next assignment. However, after a period of unprecedented levels of demand, the demand for consulting services has moderated somewhat due to the current economic climate and we have offered voluntary, short-term sabbaticals and voluntary redundancy to a limited number of employees in the UK. That being said, employee engagement remains high, and our business outlook remains healthy.

Pros

Varied client work — Different clients and project types, which keeps things interesting. Real project mobility — You can move between projects when you advocate for yourself (within reason). Approachable leadership — Senior leaders are open to conversations if you reach out. Good development resources — Plenty of training and growth opportunities if you take advantage of them. Strong teams — Colleagues are smart, capable, and great to work with. Entrepreneurial environment — New ideas are encouraged, and there’s room to take initiative.

Cons

Long hours vary by project — Like most any professional job, some engagements require extended hours for prolonged periods, but work–life balance really depends on the client and team. Additional internal responsibilities — Depending on level, there can be a significant amount of firm‑support work outside of client delivery. Domain alignment not guaranteed — You may not always be staffed on projects that match your domain expertise. Coaching alignment constraints — Coaching relationships are tied to domain, which limits flexibility in choosing formal mentors. Long engagements (sometimes) — Some projects run for long durations or through multiple extensions. It can provides stability but may reduce variety in client and project experience depending on what you’re looking for.
