Pros

many PTOs, great dental insurance, very high deductable medical

Cons

I worked at CGI and unfortunately, my experience was far from positive. I was terminated for sending an email to my personal account, which felt incredibly unjust given the circumstances. The work environment is extremely demanding, with employees being required to work 50 hours a week, including weekends and evenings from 5-8 PM. This workload is unsustainable and leads to burnout. I had hoped to advance my career by obtaining a certification. Despite submitting the necessary forms twice, my project manager completely ignored my requests and didn't even bother to reply. This lack of support and communication from management is disheartening. The project I was involved in was poorly managed, resulting in it being over budget with 100 people working on it. The project status was "red" and the government customer was extremely disappointed with our performance. We missed the go-live date by an entire year, which is unacceptable and a clear indicator of the systemic issues within the company. Overall, my time at CGI was marred by unprofessional management, unrealistic expectations, and a toxic work culture. I cannot recommend this company to anyone seeking a supportive and balanced work environment.

Pros

no specific positives to highlight from my perspective

Cons

I worked at CGI in both India and the USA and observed similar workplace culture concerns across both locations. The only real difference was HR—India HR felt more supportive, while my experience with USA HR was disappointing. My employment ended shortly after maternity leave due to an alleged “lack of projects,” which I experienced as a layoff. I also observed what appeared to be misuse of position by some leaders, including blurred professional boundaries, preferential treatment, and expectations that went beyond normal workplace roles—at times resembling personal-assistant-style demands rather than professional conduct. Surprisingly, I also noticed inconsistent “policies” applied differently to different individuals. In some cases, it felt like the rules changed depending on who you were. When leadership became aware that someone was related to another employee in the organization, it sometimes felt like that person was singled out or targeted rather than treated objectively. Overall, these practices—whether through inconsistent treatment, perceived power misuse, or favoritism—undermine trust, damage workplace culture, and raise serious concerns about fairness and professionalism.
