Pros

Seriously cannot think of a pro. That is very sad and indicative of the organisation. Oh - wait 1) Head office in London nicely located by Kings Cross. 2) Birmingham Office nicely located near train station and airport 3) Head office in reading easy from motorway. 4) Expenses - paid very quickly. This is good. and that is about it. Sorry

Cons

With CGI taking over Logica you would have thought a new broom sweeps clean. Not this one. It simply promoted the dross to the top positions. So here are the cons : 1) Apathy Noone cares about anything - except the bottom line. Nobody give a toss as to market position, CGI name or skillsets of the employees. 2) Software house - not SI CGI software is king. Oracle, Microsoft and SAP practices are disbanded. Not interested in retaining any of the golden capability that Logica had. Its CGI software or nought. 3) Pay Well below market rate. Bonus is a joke. 4) Ownership Preached at to be 'owners'. Buy shares. We are all 'members'. It is Canadian hype only. You cant vote with the shares, no dividend payout. whats is a 'member'. Please refer to the slang meaning of 'member' 5) work life balance. CGI UK CEO stated he did not like people working from home. duh. 6) technology We all use 4 - 5 yr old laptops. no smartphone except ancient BB's. Forget android or IOS. In UK your company phone will be a nokia 3310 else you have to request upgrade via procurement process that is only signed off by UK CEO. 7) Ivory Tower HR and FI think we all work in CGI offices. We dont. Wake up !. 8) Timesheets Submitted weekly every Friday by 17:00 and approved by Monday 10:00. If not then each late timesheet incurs a $100 fine from Canada. Bizarre.

Cons

I worked at CGI in both India and the USA and observed similar workplace culture concerns across both locations. The only real difference was HR—India HR felt more supportive, while my experience with USA HR was disappointing. My employment ended shortly after maternity leave due to an alleged “lack of projects,” which I experienced as a layoff. I also observed what appeared to be misuse of position by some leaders, including blurred professional boundaries, preferential treatment, and expectations that went beyond normal workplace roles—at times resembling personal-assistant-style demands rather than professional conduct. Surprisingly, I also noticed inconsistent “policies” applied differently to different individuals. In some cases, it felt like the rules changed depending on who you were. When leadership became aware that someone was related to another employee in the organization, it sometimes felt like that person was singled out or targeted rather than treated objectively. Overall, these practices—whether through inconsistent treatment, perceived power misuse, or favoritism—undermine trust, damage workplace culture, and raise serious concerns about fairness and professionalism.
