6 am starts, they pay you from 6 am , There are only two clocking machines in the whole warehouse which most of the time there is a queue For people who are clocking out however they need to clock out three minutes to the hour or they will not get paid to the hour if you clock out any time before three minutes they round your pay down to the next quarter hour so there is always a queue when you are starting. Then you have the fact that the machines are at least broken once a week. The trucks are absolutely beyond a joke, although my job is picking I could end up with a truck which is designed and meant for loading these are really old and difficult to manage, when you want to wrap a pallet and you have an old truck the likelihood is when you pull the truck out it will drag the pallet with you and everything will fall down They want you to be on a truck picking with pallets signed into the system and working away like a slave. However they don’t take into account the fact that when you arrive people are finishing shifts and there are trucks here there and everywhere. You don’t know which trucks are somebody else’s that they’re on their brakes you don’t know if a truck is even going to work, most of the time the booklets to sign your truck I missing they don’t provide any pens. Let’s say you have a truck and you are signed to system, you start your shift however you have to sign in and say ready in order to receive a pick, Now there could be any type of pic you received, you could receive one item in one location which isn’t worth your time to pick up, or you could receive 40 items in the 40 locations however these may be crisps birdseed and genuinely big items like pillows which are a nightmare to Pack and put onto a pallet,There has been no full process gone into the layout of the warehouse they will have you down every aisle picking all kinds and I do not care how the pallets lock just as long as they are in the truck and end up On a Shelf in the shops. You might be lucky and get a big pic with 280 items on so you know that you’re going to be busy for the next two hours or so. Or you could keep going through pics signing on and signing off to try and get a good pic since no one is allocated pics They are just first come first serve on the system. Right so you have a truck and you have a pic, you might get sent to Isle AD,Which are big heavy bulky drinks which you have to ride around with they are hard to balance and they are heavy to pick up and put on the palate,It’s a constant balancing act which gets even worse as your pic Starts to reduce because the layout of the warehouse is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever come across in my life, Your palate will start to get bigger and bigger and more difficult to manage but they will still give you big Cases off 8 two Litre bottles of CokeWhich you have to stuck on top of each other but they don’t train you on how to do this they just assume that you will get it as you go along because they want to spend a minimum amount on training since they probably know that you are going to leave because this place is a shambles. You will get drinks and crisps on the same pallet in either order and then for a joke They will ask you to pick cases of birdseed and bird boxes and put these on top of crisps which is ridiculous but he gets worse. You may think you have been unlucky with your pics and that these other people are the lucky ones how are you will be Mistaken these people have gone to pick podium to ask for a good pic The majority of the time the managers who give out these pics know these people well so are kind to them and give them pics from locations which Will mean you have a lot to pick however they are small items. This then means that you are on track to hit the target of 1100 and something without an issue however if you are not best friends with the managers who are majority Polish and speak Polish and give Polish staff the better pics then I’m sorry but you’re out of luck. You may ask for a pic in the morning either since the managers sit on pick podiums around a metre high they think they are better than you and sometimes just completely ignore you or tell you they are too busy and to come back later. Say you have a pallet and you want to wrap it well good luck because half the time the wrap machines are broken so it looks like you will have to pick the rap and do it yourself as you’re going round to save time because they will get On you if you have not picked enough. However they don’t take into account what you have actually picked they only care how many you have picked I will break this down. Somebody could have been given or got a pic of 300 small items which you can pick and put on the pallet and pack very quickly such as paracetamol and small other items like Which will fit on one pallet, however you could get 180 items which fit onto Two pallets and are very heavy difficult balance hurt your back and take much longer, however when the managers come around with their pieces of paper waving them in your face telling you how many have picked they do not Care what you have picked just how many so you see the situation unless you are Polish And best friends with management you’re out of luck. The trucks will most definitely die a new since they are never fully charged because whenever one is out of use since somebody has finished somebody else will then get that truck as soon as they start which is very soon after that the person finishes,So as soon as they come into the warehouse they are basically destined to die. Super users and managers that wear Orange hi viz literally just walk around and do nothing all day Wanting pick rates to be high but not actually actively trying to make the job easier I see them walk around all day drinking tea with their sheets of paper they don’t do anything apart from Talk to you about their life or their day and remind you that you have picked a small amount or a large amount. Don’t bother asking any questions to anyone since they will just give you a half arsed response because it’s not in their remit to actually care and if you wanted an answer to something and ask somebody who actually will know they will treat you like a second-class citizen They will give you the information you want in a foul and criticising derogatory way so the next time you want to know something you better not ask. Let’s talk about the state of the lockers absolutely 20-year-old lockers don’t have keys off them are falling down broken battered peeling away I’ve seen better lockers down back alleys . Half the time it will say pick two items you will pick the two items it will say Sarah contacting host you say ready it will say say ready he will say ready you will go round in circles for five minutes you will go to the pic podium and that is where the fun begins,Usually there is a Polish woman or man sat behind a window which are there in order to resolve system issues however as soon as you go over to them they give you a terrible atmosphere terrible treatment like you are just there to annoy them they even sit behind the window with a big piece of paper attached to the window so you cannot even make eye contact with them so you have to stand there tell them the issue they shut the window do not give you a time on how long it will be and then act as if you are the rude one when they try to give you the machine back and give you attitude I hate them they are disgusting. Also manages in high viz will tell you to put your hood down however when they are not managing and they are in the yellow is they will have the hood up and Whatever they told to do or not to do they will do themselves it’s completely a joke to work here I have been here six months I’m quite Frankly every day is worse than the next. You are just a Servant in their eyes anyone with an orange hi viz will treat you as though you have ruined their day. Terrible place to work and to add to this they do not pay you for your brakes.
