Pros

ADC makes a solid product that helps people manage their diabetes better. The pipeline on product is robust and not just the same old thing but "improved." Abbott is one of the few companies left that offers a pension plan, if you can stand working there long enough. Vacation for the entire year is available January 1st. (But you must work 12 longs years before you get another additional day of vacation.)

Cons

Upper Management takes care of its self very generously. Their upcoming meeting is in Milan Italy. But employees working long nights can't even order a pizza and expense it. Middle managers and the worker bees cannot get an "average" rating on their annual review so that there is more bonus pool for the wealthy few. (And the salaries are quite poor for Silicon Valley, but just a little low for the pharma industry.) Everything is done the cheapest way possible. Some examples. * If the copier breaks it is a cold day in Hell before it gets fixed. There is no person to call or place to email. They think that if even one copier anywhere on the entire campus works, then there isn't a problem. This is only a problem for the worker bees as upper management have their own printers and administrators. * When AbbVie and Abbott split, the IT infrastructure was upgraded (with some of the legacy software being 40 years old!). But Abbott went cheap- buying the oldest possible version of software and not paying for support, maintenance, or upgrades. It's bare bone city. Oh, and they still have some systems, like vacation tracker, on the very old Lotus Notes! * The cafeteria food is so gross that my dog won't eat my leftover sandwich meat. * Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The carpet is vacuumed and the floors mopped weekly but refrigerators, desktops, filing cabinets, etc are never cleaned or dusted. Many employees bring spray disinfectant to work to clean their phones, door handles, copiers, etc. as Abbott would never consider paying for that. The general counsel must be a real witch as attorney turnover is very high. I never work with the same attorney over the course of a project. The only "clubs" allowed are for Blacks, Latinos, Asian, gay, or Sweet Talkers (public speaking). You can't do a Weight Watchers meeting at lunchtime, have a volleyball game after work, and even some women that were knitting at lunch were told to stop. Unless you are destitute and desperate for a job, look somewhere else that may value your knowledge, strong work ethics, etc.
