Pros

My former coworkers were by far some of the best people i've ever had the privilege of working with. Coworkers become like a 2nd family due to the insane amount of time you spend together working all of those never-ending crazy hours.

Cons

Sometimes, managers don't know what they're doing due to the lack of training for the position. Benefits aren't the best Though feedback is encouraged, it's not worth the time to express concerns because your words can and will probably be used against you in the future. Management isn't always on the same page in terms of prioritizing tasks at hand, which can make anyone's job overwhelming Tax season hours are inhumane The corporate office is so out of touch with the way the stores are run. They expect more and more every time

Based on your feedback and others, we have removed the bachelor's degree requirement for Operations Advisors. We understand that doesn't mean much if we don't start re-evaluating the value OA's bring to the company (which is often understated) and we are beginning to make strides to change this. Thank you for the time you spent with us.

Pros

DriveTime's culture is truly open, collaborative and team-focused. Every member of the team is accessible and appreciates other departments' inputs and ideas when solving a technical or operational problem. On the tax side, we are constantly asked to participate in key business decisions and suggest the most "tax efficient" way to solve problems for the Company, our shareholders and our customers. Our flow-through taxation structure creates significant technical challenges and ample chances for research and learning. DriveTime being privately held permits the tax department can spend more time reviewing and current and prospective tax planning and looking for process improvements - in both income and sales tax. We insource our income return preparation and frequently review complex issues around stock compensation, transfer pricing, R&D and state and local tax credits and incentives, among other things.

Cons

DriveTime and its senior leadership constantly challenge the status quo and look for ways to maximize business value. Some on the outside may see this as a "con" because it involves consistent attention to non-routine matters and sometimes "up and down" schedules. However, I think this environment gives each employee a significant chance for growth and tax and accounting technical development for those with the right attitude.
