Deceptive Culture

Pros

Decent pay for hourly employees. Benefits, even though they have changed.

Cons

On the surface Drivetime makes you believe that they care about you. Don't be fooled, it's a two faced culture full of corruption and quid-pro-quo. If you're a "Yes" man, this is the place for you. If you have integrity and pride as a tradesman, then look elsewhere. They will have you screwing and gluing cars together to save management money for their bonuses. The companies entire structure pits each department against one another in a battle for efficiency, then punish them when they falter. They'll ask about your family, then turn around and make you work weekends even though they told you when hired that weekends are off. The management culture is a totally different can of worms. They give you a vehicle to drive as part of your compensation, then threaten you like children to take your transportation away. Salaried employees are made to work overtime for meetings, conference calls, and weekends with no other thanks than "be happy you have a job". The use of cell phones to spy on employees and log information for later reprimands seems to be a sport. The yearly raise is absolutely laughable. It's on a rating scale of 1-5, and all managers are directed to never give a 5, and if given a 4, there must be an essay as to why. Even rockstar employees are only given a 2-3% yearly raise, coming out to less than 80 cents in most cases. Absolutely pathetic given the massive profits the company brags about quarterly.

This was a tough review to read, but thank you for sharing your perspective. We are sorry that these were your takeaways during your time at DriveTime. We are committed to the quality and integrity of our work, in all areas of our business, which will always come first before anyone's bonus incentive. During our high volume seasons, extra dedication is needed from our staff, but we recognize the need for breaks and time spent with family. While 2-3% is normal practice for annual increases, we have a strong internal career path that allows employees to increase their responsibilities and skill set that also come with compensation increases. Although your time with us has come to an end, we do appreciate your feedback and will keep it top of mind moving forward.

Pros

Off on Sundays and all major holidays. The company cares about family and if you need a day off they will give it to you. The pay is decent. Not the best but the worst. If you work from open to close every day and come on your off day you will make you’re goal.

Cons

If you’re a person who likes sink or swim sales, being Dissected each and every week, stress, no work life balance and toxic work environment then this is a place where you will do good. To make your goal you have to work open to close and on your off day. Working with Customers fake pay stubs, low income, horrible credit and fraudulent information. 80 percent of the cars have mechanical issues. 60 percent of customers return the vehicles within the first week. As a sales advisor you’re also the lot attendant, mechanic, Car washer, bank and contract processors. Management lacks professionalism and tell your personal business to other advisors. No sense of community. Doggy eat Dog type of sales environment. No formal training.

Pros

Great benefits and good hours

Cons

Upper management plays favorites. It doesnt necessarily matter what you know, it is more about who you know. All good management is leaving the company due to poor leadership choices.
