No incentive for high performers

Pros

Good benefits package 401K Good PTO Package

Cons

Where do I start? First, they took away commissions, so there is literally no incentive to sell. Instead of commission, you get a team bonus for hitting budget. So if someone sells 30 cars and someone else sells 5 cars, guess what? They get paid the same. They try to justify this elimination of commission by saying it encourages people to work together for the betterment of the customer while fostering a positive team atmosphere. Give me a break. You think it’s a positive team atmosphere when you have lazy Joe Schmoe getting paid the same as someone that busts their behind?Companies always try to make you view their BS through rose tinted glasses. They just got tired of paying high performers commissions. They increased the base salary, which encourages people to just be lazy, not care and rely on the hard workers to get their tiny team bonus for them. If you’re a hard worker and like getting paid for your output, don’t work here. They also cut most of the sales staff due to covid, so they work you like a dog.

We appreciate you sharing your experience with us! Sad to see only 1 star after spending 3-4 years with DriveTime. I imagine you've seen quite a few changes over the years, as we're always trying new things to better the lives of both our customers and our employees. The increased base salary has stabilized our Customer Experience Guides' take home pay, so there's less fluctuation month to month, and also helps us focus on our customer's needs - not just a commission check. While it may not work for all sales roles out there, we are strong supporters of a team-based bonus approach. We work hard together and we win together! We wish you all the best on your next endeavor.
