Pros

The commitment to training staff, is huge for professional development. The people are great i truly enjoy working with my team, which is important because you see a lot of them! Working here is a great resume builder just putting Deloitte on your resume should be able to get you at least an interview.

Cons

Busy season is a YEAR round event at Deloitte, working 50- 60 hour weeks is typical. The long hours make it impossible to have a work life balance. Don't bother breaking down your meager salary to an hourly wage, when you realize fast food chain managers make more then you it gets depressing.

Pros

Good reputation, good place to start your career. The firm name will give you the credibility to open doors at other firms and position you to apply and be admitted to top MBA programs in the country. Many people work at Deloitte until the senior consultant level before accepting cushy manager positions at competing firms. It's a great place to develop a strong basic level consulting acumen and the skillset to add value to your clients.

Cons

Popularity contest, no tangible benchmarks for promotion. The focus is on the people, but not developing the people. The focus is on meeting other people and winning favor in their eyes. This favor is not tied to whether a person is skilled or hard working, rather how many company happy hours have you planned or attended. In terms, of promotion a framework exists, but is loosely followed. You can meet at the merit criteria at the next level, but if you do not win the popularity contest you cannot be promoted.

Pros

The opportunities are really quite excellent. As someone who has recently graduated, you will rarely be able to get the kind of exposure to senior decision makers at some of the top companies in the marketplace. While your role on the team may be purely administrative and you will find yourself working 60-hour weeks regularly performing grunt work, the client exposure is tremendous. If you keep your ears and eyes open, you can certainly learn a great deal about the industry that your client is in. Deloitte is a good resume builder and it pays to start your career with this organization in order to benefit from the client exposure. Another benefit is that one will routinely get exposure to work that the client's staff prepare and this work is usually prepared and reviewed by fairly senior members of management (Controller, Manager of Financial Reporting, Sr. Financial Analyst). If one is a new grad, getting access this this work will enable one to learn how the client's organization operates and one will gain exposure and understanding that is usually possessed by those who are at least 3-4 years ahead in their careers. This is a great resume builder once again because one will be able to obtain more senior positions in industry companies (sometimes even client companies) because of the exposure that one had to the work product of the role they are applying for.

Cons

Non-existent work life balance and poor management. Promotions and not merit-based.
