Pros

Company does well in the marketplace. Some people have been in the industry for very long and can be a good resource of experience.

Cons

Bureaucracy, takes annoyingly a lot of time to make any changes, get approvals, etc. Low-quality of work in many areas. Everything is hard to find (documents, data, etc), because organization if very, very chaotic. Nobody is responsible for anything, and everybody is responsible for everything. Easy to loose track of what's going on and who does what. Computer system is horible, laptops are super slow and break often. Working with union technician is simply a nightmare. The worst experience ever, even if you are a very patient and nice. I would say it reaches level of surrealism sometimes. I just couldn't believe it. Old technologies. If the company doesn't invest in developing new aggressive technologies, it will be taken over by competitors. Highly conservative approach in engineering. Parts are oversized, though robust. A lot of room for technical excellence improvement or at least update/refresh. Salary less than average in the industry.

I was close to my home

Cons

I worked at Rocky Mountain in Broomfield. Just a joke, look around at management.

Takes advantage of their people

Pros

Flexible schedule (sometimes); cafeteria and medical staff on site; good health benefits

Cons

I was on a team with several young engineers who were in the US on work visas. Because they tend to be single and new, they are easily "inspired" to work 65+ hours a week. This was used against my coworkers who limited their work hours due to family obligations. Also, the 360 Review process and the 5-90-5% approach is outdated. [That's where you give your top 5% of people a nice raise, 90% a standard cost-of-living increase, and 5% are ushered out the door. It is based on the belief that you keep the cream of the crop and eliminate the chaff. The problem with this is that someone HAS to get axed and it's almost always support staff who are perfectly competent workers.) Compensation is low compared to other people in my position. Management in my area played favorites.
