Pros

When they have a good year the bonuses are good. They try to offer activities for the employees and get them engaged. Once in a while somebody sees the light and actually does something that is beneficial to the employees.

Cons

A large company with a 1960's management attitude. Methodology of the month (TQM,Six Sigma, Kaizen,...) Put a lot of stock in nebulous cost savings realized by Methodology of the month. New ideas are talked about and get no farther - nobody wants to think outside the box and take the challenge of putting things into practice, cause, hey - that might be taking a risk. Go with flow - what gets done is based on who says what, not on whether it has any technical merit or not. People are a commodity - when the business is good hire people left and right; economy is going south - fire at will! No job security unless your buddies are in upper management.

Pros

You will receive allot of opportunity to work on projects and they give you move than enough work to handle. If you want a project they will give it to you no matter what. Cummins give you a chance to develop different processes to make a positive impact. Great company for college hires.

Cons

Columbus, IN is not a desirable city. The only locations as of now are: Memphis, TN; Columbus, Nashville, TN and SC. If you are a professional hire, I would suggest you don't work at Cummins. If you have a job stay where you are. The buildings are very poor and dirty, their IT support is not the best; you would think an American company would have IT support in the US but it's offshore. Management is shady. It’s very difficult to get things done. Poor training and development of employees. Hard to get the tools you need to get your job done. Everyone is over worked and I mean over worked. There is allot of turn over due to treatment of others, locale, management style and poor working environment. Hard to trust management. I recommend to other potential canadites, weigh all opts before moving to IN.....

Pros

Cummins has very good database of engineering standard and Product data management system. For new engineer, these standards are holy bible to learn from.

Cons

Of course , it's Cummins Performance management system and forced ranking. The system is total BS Too much emphasis on community service, heart walk , united way, HPI. you know what I mean. your color , race will be good for company you when times are good. and they will be reason for layoff when times are like this. There are many "3" still with Cummins even after laying off 22% of US workforce.
