Strong Company, Low Pay

Pros

Employee stock discount, pension. Excellent management that moves the company through a complex changing world. Financially strong and getting better. Ethically a great company. Strong future for their products.

Cons

Engineers don't stick around since the pay does not advance like other companies and promotions are hard to achieve at some sites. After 5-10 years, you will be 10-20k behind other companies for the same years of service. The company also has too many non local people that don't want to stick around for more than 2-4 years, so they leave. This nets on average a 80-90% loss of people by 5 years in the engineering roles. Bad health care network option and terrible coverage. Also a lack of respect for talent on the individual contributor side. Local management has no control over salaries and raises are often small .

Pros

- Nice people to work with - individuals do want to do the right thing - fairly open and approachable as an organization. - Good vision from top Management and Leadership - adapting to changing trends in the marketplace - like Hydrogen, Electric etc.

Cons

- Salary levels have failed to keep up with the changing market condition. - Loads of good talent departing the company. Not doing enough to retain talent, but willing to pay much more to get new talent. - Going overboard with Diversity initiatives - positive discrimination is also discrimination. - unfortunate to see the performance culture taking a backseat lately - Challenges in cascading the vision and alignment at all levels of the org -

Pros

-pay is good -there is appreciation for the work you do positive learning experience -company willing to put in money in buying good software for project management

Cons

-company can keep you on contract perpetually I met some colleagues who have been on contract for years without opportunity for permanent role -depending on who is your boss, job can be very stressful -as a contract employee, I was frequently shouted at, but management did appreciate the work and time I been putting in and extended my contract twice -some late hours required to complete the job as frequent traveling to sub-vendor site. -poor benefits as contract employee
