Pros

The product itself lured me in.

Cons

This unprofitable company is sinking in the US, as non-US based executives continue not to acknowledge the vastly different market landscape, and our middle management’s mediocrity and tendency to harrass their employees. They target those who self-advocate, push for resourcing they are denied on behalf of clients, and raise the hard questions they don’t have answers to. You will be labeled a problem. People in positions of power are rewarded for managing upward and not rocking the boat as opposed to providing healthy atmospheres by advocating for their teams. Several people through the power of favoritism or their ol’ Clicktale days status, are untouchable, manipulative bullies. Cross them and you’re gone. The list of people being pushed out under questionable ‘performance issues’ is growing along with miscalculated payouts. Seems like more layoffs are coming or the plan is to incrementally downsize via PIPs to preserve revenue and draw less negative attention. The layoffs a couple weeks ago “weren’t layoffs, but performance related”… of course they were with the quotas given to your US Sales team. After the February mass layoffs with a bleak forecast, hordes of my peers provided feedback to help the business. Much of it was ignored or resolved at the surface level. It’s a shame how they are treating the remaining US team. It makes it easy to predict what’s to come. Working here has been an unforgettable lesson on how to vet out a potential employer better.

Pros

The product was fairly easy to use and demonstrate. If you are considering a sales position here you WILL be required to perform your own first round demos. You will be graded and stacked against your peers regularly on your ability to demo and perform sales pitches and mock discoveries. The Base Pay is within the standard range for this kind of position.

Cons

The product is simply not selling well in the US. Quota attainment is not feasible, especially on the New Logo team US. This month we had another round of layoffs. If you are interviewing and asking those KPI questions like how many reps are hitting quota, sales cycle, etc. The Comp plan is also highly confusing with several loopholes and scenarios where pay can be decreased. If you are located in the UK or France you may be in a better position to succeed than the US. The departments don't always work well together. Sales, Inside Sales, Marketing- many different people marching in different directions. Lead generation is specifically a problem. When an opportunity is found by the Sales Team, several individuals from other teams beyond sales can seek credit for it. This is a waste of time and causes distrust and internal competition company wide. I am not bitter but am willing to admit that I made a huge mistake by joining Contentsquare. This was one of those life lessons that many of us have to experience at least once in a lifetime. I wish it could have worked out but on to the next.
