Pros

For employees joining in India, there are many opportunities to travel abroad. Cognizant's "Client first" policy that sets the priority clear. Headed by young and dynamic CEO, Frank.

Cons

No recognition for quality work. Lower compensation compared to other companies. High salary disparity between employees promoted and employees hired at same levels. Random adhoc promotion policies. Socialistic approach to promotion based on seniority. There are some exceptions to this where people with extremely high talent getting promoted soon. But, they are very few in number. HR policies - that never seem to make sense.

Pros

If you are in India and want to get out of there, this place is good.

Cons

Everything else is terrible - people are recruited with no proper screening and quality of employees sucks. Almost everyone has a sense of entitlement, esp. people coming from no name enginnering colleges and getting placed because these companies hire indiscriminately. They cannot string together complete sentences in english without making grammatical mistakes. The only people with more than 10 yrs work ex that are left here are people who cannot make it elsewhere. this is one of the companies where people stop coding and move on to excel sheets as soon as they become a team lead. Pathetic - no talent at middle levels.

Pros

Its a big company, fast growing, has branches in different places in India and onsite locations in good number of countries. So if you want, you have good number of chances of being posted in a different location for different projects. Having 'CTS' on your resume is definitely a plus.

Cons

As a fresher , you will be posted in a technology in which they have a vacancy , not the one you want to work in. This is a BIG MINUS. The training quality is bad. No care is taken on the quality of training being given. Once you are put in a technology, it is not at all easy to change technology without compromising your career growth. Lots of office politics in the company. You dont get promotion when you deserve Or just because you worked hard and contributed a lot. The reason you will get promoted is - 1)by accident, 2)because you are good in buttering everyone, 3)you work more than a donkey and don't care about your health at all and do well in 10 roles at the same time. You will hardly have any personal time. Having said that , I should say there are certain projects where people hardly have work. If one disagrees with my comments, it means that he/she is either a workaholic or a person who is working in one of the rare normal-work projects.
