Frustrating Leadership, Poor Management Oversight, and Low Morale
Pros
The pension offering is better than many comparable companies. Friendly colleagues. Free bar at all socials.
Cons
My time at Poujoulat UK was, unfortunately, a frustrating experience overall. The management style is inconsistent - either completely absent or overly micromanaging, with very little balance in between. There is a clear lack of planning and structure, and regular departmental meetings to align teams or address concerns are noticeably missing. Feedback is often ignored, which makes it difficult to feel heard or valued as an employee. There are also some questionable business practices and a sense of nepotism that can be discouraging. The UK operation is backed by the parent company in France, but there seems to be little oversight or concern for how the UK business is actually being managed or how frustrated and fed-up employees are. Senior management, in particular, could benefit from more professionalism. Interactions can sometimes come across as basic or even disrespectful, with behaviours such as talking over others or using inappropriate language in the workplace. There is also a noticeable lack of oversight in day-to-day work - something that might sound appealing at first, but in reality reflects the broader absence of structure and leadership. If you’re happy to coast without much direction or accountability, it could suit you. However, for those seeking strong leadership, clear communication, and a positive, professional workplace culture, this may not be the right fit.
