Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the opportunity to work with modern technologies, solve complex problems at scale, and collaborate with strong colleagues. It’s also great to see our approach to compensation recognised. We operate in a fast-paced environment where change is constant, and we’re intentional about building a team that thrives in that setting. Thanks again for sharing your perspective.

Pros

Some good benefits like free lunch. Good compensation.

Cons

This is not a merit-based company. Hard work and results go unnoticed, while promotions and rewards go to those who are part of the CTO’s inner circle. If you’re not in that circle, don’t expect recognition no matter how much effort you put in. The culture is built on favoritism and politics. Advancement has nothing to do with performance and everything to do with how well you flatter leadership. It’s a tail-wagging contest, not a workplace that values talent. Communication is practically non-existent. Major decisions that affect the whole team are made in secret and dumped on everyone after the fact. There’s always a hidden agenda, and employees are left guessing instead of being kept informed. Always If you’re looking for a place where your skills and contributions are valued, this is not it. Unless you enjoy playing office politics and pleasing the right people, you’ll find this environment toxic and demotivating.

We take all feedback seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address the points raised. We want to be clear that recognition and progression at Checkout.com are based on merit, not proximity to any individual or group. Our culture is built around rewarding performance, impact, and contribution. We have invested significantly in the systems and processes that surround performance management, which allows for oversight across departments by Checkout leadership and the People team. Regarding the concerns about favouritism and politics, if any colleague feels that these principles have not been applied fairly, we encourage them to raise their concerns confidentially so they can be thoroughly reviewed. We have many pathways to do so here at Checkout and we strongly encourage employees to engage across those channels, as you will have seen this month internally with our engagement survey. We recognise that in any fast growing, high velocity environment, decisions sometimes need to move quickly as #PaceMatters here at Checkout. It's also important, where possible and with respect to employee confidentiality, that we be transparent about reasons and strategy behind change. We regret to hear that your experience did not reflect the inclusive and merit-based culture we have here at Checkout.com. We remain committed to building a workplace where every person feels respected, supported, and recognised for their contributions.
