Pros

- Chanel prides itself as a trend setter so many creatives rolled out always seek to excite and surprise its customers (i.e. impactful videos on social media platform etc...) - Major staff discounts to beauty and fashion products (great perks if you are a woman!!) - The luxury brand itself already adds value to your CV

Cons

- Artistic department (AD) seems to be the "GOD" in the organization as they have final say in the creatives. They steer the direction of most launch campaigns after taking brief from the marketing teams. However, 40% of the time, they lose sight of real consumers' needs (since they are not on the ground) - Lack of a creator for its beauty segment now that Peter Phillps have joined competior, Dior - Lack of communication among different teams in headquarters. Everyone seems to be doing their own things which leads to disconnection and incomplete information - Materials for launches are typically late or incomplete= lack of communication - Local markets have less flexibility to adapt or modify launch materials given by headquarters, leading to frustrations as the marketing team may feel that its creativity is restricted - Career progression can be slow as people seem generally quite happy to stay in their role in the next 10 years

Pros

Great opportunity to hone your craft and sales skills, and to begin forming long term client relationships and business partnerships.

Cons

Long hours, extremely boring during slow periods. Some department store associates who had been with the brand a long time were very complacent and didn't want to maximize their revenue potential when I was in-store because they knew they would have to "anniversary" that day's numbers on the same day next year, without knowing whether or not they would have the same support that day next year. Most of the "retail managers", hybrids of account coordinators and account executives have their own agenda and will think nothing of making you or their fellow managers look bad. I felt like I always had to look over my shoulder.
