Pros

Great advancement opportunities. Great health benefits. My boss is very flexible when it comes to getting days off. I can take off more than my two weeks if need be. I can also leave a little early as long as I am getting my work completed. Great team work.

Cons

Seems like half of the company is contract. As we are now in our downturn, it seems like most of the contract workers have been let go. We won't get a merit raise next year as well as a bonus. So now we have tons more work to do without being incentive to do more work. But at the same time, you still have a job.

Pros

Caterpillar is a very diverse company with international opportunities. CAT encourages movement within the company to keep employees satisfied and continually learning. They have a great rotational development program for engineers that rotates you through 4 different business units. This allows you to see how the different units each contribute to the company and may introduce you to a part of the business you would like to explore once your commitment to your home unit is completed.

Cons

Most of CAT's operations are in the midwest which is not my ideal living environment. It gets cold in the winter and still manages to get hot in the summer.

Pros

Family oriented. Very welcoming. Big equipment that is fun to play with.

Cons

Small town, not much to do. Although, you are only 3 hours in any direction from a major city. Those are Chicago, St. Louis, and Indianapolis. There are long rotational programs that take place if you want to be an engineer in marketing.
