Pros

Flexible hours , easy to request time off

Cons

They don’t completely train you. Supposed to have 6 mos training but get maybe 2 mos if lucky Get yelled at becacause you ask for help Get yelled at because you dont ask for help because always told figure it out.

Everything is great except the pay.

If you are in the market to buy a car and Carmax is on your list keep one thing in mind. If you go online to the website and request information, hold a car, transfer a car or so much as try to call the store to ask any question at all the company takes half of your sales person’s commission!! This is not a negative post just want you to know how the person that will be responsible for taking care of you and your next car is or is not getting paid. They did NOT reduce the price of the vehicles you will be considering nor will you get any other breaks in APR or service plans. That money is kept by Carmax as profit and to “expand”. Please, keep this in mind and if you would share, that would be great. I would love to see Carmax customers speak out, leave feedback on Carmax website or Facebook. If you think it’s good, say it’s good. But if you don’t, please say something. No other business that I know of cuts the employees pay because the customer called the store first or went to their website. I promise, they don’t care what the employees think, maybe they will care what their customers think.

Pros

This is like a family. Initially if you are not used to working the long hours it can be a bit overwhelming, but eventually you get used to it and it will no longer bother you. If you work hard, this company will develop you as a leader and you will get promoted quickly. They acknowledge talent and love to watch it grow. I loved everyone that I worked with because the culture is full of honesty and provides feed back that helps in both professional and personal settings. I would recommend anyone looking for a great career to look at this company.

Cons

The "bad seed" employees are given too many chances to stick around because of the same culture that tries to develop its associates, sometimes spends too much time on the ones that clearly DON'T NOT fit. Because of this management has to spend too much time on those problem associates and it stunts the growth of others. This allowed for those associates to bring down the morale of the group because they were given chance after chance to show they were not going to change for the better.
