Pros

Competitive compensation in the news industry, ample PTO (which you'll need to deal with the stress), smart colleagues, fancy Hudson Yard offices

Cons

Mediocre white men flourish here, while ambitious women and POC often get stuck or leave after a couple years. Career development and growth opportunities are completely unstructured and nonexistent once you're a senior individual contributor or in middle management. It's easy to get stuck in the same role for many, many years (and there are plenty of accomplished, ambitious people this has happened to). Promotions are run like a popularity contest -- completely subjective and based on whether you have won the favor of a specific executive. Performance reviews are a joke, conducted only annually and with little thought or direction. Even if you ask for a clear plan on how to grow at the company, you're unlikely to get any helpful guidance.
