Pros

I have been given the ability to choose my own coverage areas quite closely and have not been pushed into writing about one particular topic or beat versus another. My boss is very supportive and wants me to succeed and do well. He is also a very experienced manager who understands his team well and knows what is needed on a given day, particularly in a fast-paced news environment. I have learnt a great deal being at CNBC, from what it takes to write a news story, to scripting a digital video, to appearing on TV. It has been incredible experience on all fronts!

Cons

There is limited potential for growth in some areas. The job often doesn't let you take opportunities to do more in other platforms, or do the stuff that would enable you to reach above to the next level in terms of promotion. It has also been a rough year in terms of the culture, with a lot of headlines about certain individuals who are no longer with the company proving a distraction from day-to-day work.
