Pros

Pay was pretty good, and once my skills were recognized, management made every effort to keep me engaged in one project or another. I had a pretty good 5 - yr. run.

Cons

1. The usual off-shoring and H1B tactics were tremendously effective in reducing costs and achieving market share, but resulted in escalating attrition of US employees. 2. Working for NYC municipal government projects is not for the weak of stomach. In many departments, the bureaucratic and racial jockying were shocking and dismaying. 3. Career development and internal training were weak or non-existant. A training portal exists, but it's largely non-technical and management-oriented.

Pros

Very flexible with work life balance, and projects can be interesting; generally the people you work with are collegial

Cons

Minimal opportunities for advancement; projects are long, multi-year engagements and it can be difficult to switch roles or projects if an opportunity arises

Pros

Good money (ONLY if you can bargain) Stable job Stable organisation with deep pockets Good overseas exposure Long term projects

Cons

Pathetic, ridiculous, incompetent India management Extremely, extremely bureaucratic No parity in payscales. If you cannot bargain, CGI is the worst place to work If you are not in good books, you better commit harakiri Starts acting kiddish once you put in your papers. (maybe dont want to lose billable resources)
