Pros

Reasonable benefits (e.g. share scheme, pension contribution, private health care, home working); Immediate colleagues I worked with were always pleasant and supportive; Some interesting work although highly project dependant.

Cons

Significant lack of training and investment into junior members; Experience within the company is varied and often dependant on project - for example, one of my projects was incredibly interesting with a positive working environment and another was abysmal and demoralising with the entire team disenfranchised and demotivated; Unprofessional middle management with lack of respect towards their employees - I found they were often cliquey and noticed they tended to gossip and spread rumours, it was clear many managers only cared about getting a promotion rather than leading by example and had a distinct lack of respect for their employees; Terrible HR Management with HR disclosing confidential matters multiple times to parties it did not concern without permission and very poor knowledge of basic employment law - this was surprising and disappointing, it left me feeling violated and untrusting; Unethical practices with clients and outright lies when it came to sales pitches - some situations made me feel morally uncomfortable; Manipulative managers who try and convince you to pursue career opportunities that suit their own pursuits and benefits the business rather than considering your own aspirations and development; Poor retention of junior members of staff, or any staff for that matter, those that remain seem unhappy and disgruntled; Don't train you appropriately to do roles both formally or even informally from senior team members - often projects hire apprentices/graduates/undergraduates to do what they refer to as 'cheap labour' without much guidance from more senior technical staff who seem to be either looking for projects or utilise their time over multiple ones as their charge rate has become harder to justify; No clear progression path and rather than management inspiring me with their knowledge, it felt like a lot had managed to cheat their way to the top; Lack of diversity meaning the same old personality types rose to the top; Constant 'feminist' prose rammed down young girls throats to celebrate they were a 'Woman in IT' this 'special treatment' was counter productive and often offensive and most certainly not promoting any realm of equality; Only care about driving costs down and capitalising on the very minimum to provide their services, unfortunately this meant technical staff often had no capability to actually deliver what was expected and this was hugely frustrating, it also meant lack of resources with people often ending up as a single point of failure.

We had a dream... which unfortunately has been killed...

Pros

People are, or at least were the absolute best thing about the company. For a great many people ("members"), it was never just a job - it genuinely was a way of life... The passion and commitment that people would give to the company was genuinely off the scale... CGI got people engaged and really working together as a team, and as a result, what we delivered to clients and shareholders were great results...

Cons

... and unfortunately its systematically been taken apart day-by-day with the acquisition of Logica. At least in Australia, as one earlier reviewer it really is "CGI, now part of Logica". The CGI culture - that made it such a great place to work - has been replaced 100% by the Logica culture of micro-managing results, no vision, little leadership, no communication and a stay-billable-or-you're-out culture.

Ridiculous company

Pros

Some good benefits and flexible with WFH (on current contract at least)

Cons

-Management is non existent. I’ve been here a year and had two conversations with my manager -Only interested in profits and poor service to their clients. Been in meetings where we have been asked to provide contacts who we can sell services to (I’m a developer! Why am I being asked this?!) -Stability is questionable. I’ll be moved off my current contract soon (even though it’s not ending, they want it all offshore to be cheaper) and I have to apply for other jobs while having a job at CGI or face redundancy if I can’t get one. -Poor pay -No development support -I work on a team with offshore developers who get paid less than me and have to work longer hours. It’s disgusting and exploitative. Be very wary of how things operate here before applying.
