Bad management and lots of hours expected
Pros
Although the training was on-the-job, I felt as if the other staff were training me well and were accepting of my early mistakes. You are expected to learn all kitchen stations and be fully versatile, which I think helped me develop a good work ethic.
Cons
First of all, I want to mention that I worked for the Karali franchise in the UK. Management were awful. A store manager was brought into our new store at the last minute and received far less training that the average staff did. He was then given full reign over the store and began to ignore health and safety rules and even posted fake reviews on Google. Working as a part-time student, I was slowly given less and less shifts as a punishment for not being willing to take any shift thrown at me - even those that clashed with my uni timetable. Even a few supposed full-time employees received this treatment, as all staff are on zero-hours contracts.
