Pros

Higher-than-average salaries for News business, health insurance for employee & family covered at no employee cost, lots of bureaus around the world if you're inclined to work abroad, fairly flat hierarchy, layoffs are almost unheard of, generous leave by U.S. standards (4 weeks)

Cons

Mandatory 10-hr workdays (including 1-hr lunch), draconian responses to human errors (including firings), company policy that forbids rehiring employees who leave to take a job elsewhere, and a tendency to burn out employees with long workdays and demands for ever-higher output.

Pros

Bloomberg covers a lot of different areas in its work. Being at the crux of technology, markets, and media, there's always a lot of interesting stuff going on. You get to work with smart interesting people on some really cool stuff. Benefits are great.

Cons

There can be a bit of bureaucratic silliness from time to time. I think the relatively flat culture Bloomberg promotes makes this less bad than what I've heard of at some other large companies, but I've still been in some pretty useless meetings.
