Solid tech stack and generous bonuses, but suffers from corporate laziness and poor leadership
Pros
I learned a ton about Linux, SQL, security, certificates, ITIL, and overall IT best practices. Some colleagues were super knowledgeable, and I learned a lot from them. Great salary raises and a generous annual bonus (equivalent to about a month and a half of pay). During my time there, my salary went up by 26,000 CZK from my starting pay to my final one. The tools and technology are up to modern standards. No legacy systems or obsolete tech. Your roles and responsibilities are very well defined. With the exception of my last year, my direct managers were flexible and understanding. They cared about getting the job done, not about appearances or presenteeism.
Cons
There are tons of completely incompetent Project Managers and Product Owners who are eaten up by apathy and a total lack of interest. They never knew anything when asked, and were always looking for someone else to pass the buck to. For years, I saw people doing absolutely nothing tangible with zero consequences. My final direct manager had zero people skills. He accepted everything other teams pushed onto us, even if it wasn't our responsibility. He barely spoke to anyone who wasn't his buddy. When new people arrived, not only did he not help them onboard, he literally barely spoke to them—yet he expected them to figure out the job on their own. If they didn't perform exactly as he wanted, he was already looking for a way to get rid of them. Even though there were many good people, the office atmosphere suffered from that stereotypical corporate phoniness. Almost everyone gets the exact same laptop. I spent nearly 4 years with the same machine, and by the end, it took about 10 minutes just to boot up. For what I heard they implemented a Clock-in system to control employees; that's another con.
