Pros

It's really hard to think of positive reasons to work for this company... The only thing I can think of is at the store I worked at there was quite a few extra shifts going.

Cons

First of all the job was advertised at a higher wage rate, it wasn't until the induction you were told it was minimum wage. At the 2 day induction you wound get big speeches about how everyone is treated the same it doesn't make a difference whether you're a manager or sales assistant- what a load of rubbish! Once we got to the store which we were expected to the build shelves, put up heavy brackets then fill the shelves with extremely heavy stock. Now we were not warned of this in the induction this was just said to us on the day we turned up. The production team that goes around every b&m store before opening are terrible. Sorry I shouldn't say all of them, some of the contractors were nice but the main boss and her deputies or minions are horrible. They showed no respect and clearly seen us as being there to do monkey work, we were shouted at like children and treated with no respect. For minimum wage, the bare minimum amount of breaks and being spoken to like dirt I would rather be unemployed. There was times when people would leave the store in tears. Now it's a waiting game to see if I receive the correct wages as I've seen other reviews that say they're good at under paying people.

Pros

6am-2pm Shift means you still have the day to do stuff

Cons

30 minute break for a full 8 hour shift (hard physical work) Literally slave drivers Can be fired for the smallest thing you work 5 days per week but no days off together made to work an extra 2 hours on Sundays put the pay is always the same Warehouse is on its last legs (leaks, broken racks, not enough equipment) Products are treated poorly, Literally thrown onto pallets and dropped from heights (and you wonder why your goods are faulty) tight Deadlines mean that you cant practice safe manual handling or health and safety AT ALL! Staff morale is the lowest of anywhere i have worked The whole place is dirty and disgusting including the toilets and rest areas Can be fired for not doing overtime

Pros

- Close to home - OK pay - Plenty of overtime if wanted

Cons

- Management haven't got a clue on how to run a store (they usually just sat about drinking coffee in the office, on the phone to friends or family) - No trust between managers and staff - Poor communication - Most employee's seemed very negative, or just had a bad attitude which made it an unpleasant place to work - Staff walking out (or being fired) almost daily - 4 people including a warehouse manager left from depression - Work hours seemed to drag - Often underpaid - Always understaffed
