Where to start! Management are a joke was a brand new store and I was there from day 1 building the store from the ground up cause apparently it was good for us to see it develope more likely we where cheaper than hiring proffessionals. They way I got spoken too for not knowing how to build a shelf was disgusting... yeah cause I forgot over night I became a shop fitter...employee's where scared to open there mouths to ask for a drink and anyone who had a drink on the shop floor was punished for it. The shop opened and we where very successful but still no praise for the hard work we done but u had to be busy busy busy because if u where caught looking like u where doing nothing u where fired. Withing the first week a manager and 7 members of staff left and then I got a virus and ended up in hospital but like a good employee I arrange cover for my last 4hr shift of the week...I called management explained the situation and all seemed fine. I went into work the following Monday and was called into the office and asked to explain why I was off I explained I was in hospital with a virus etc and I was then told to take my badge off get my stuff and go!...I have never been fired in my life but I especially have never been in trouble let alone fired for being ill even tho I arranged cover which they said was fine. I'm a single mother and was working my a** off for a bunch of twats that swore at staff and treated us like s***e on there shoes

Pros

Staff are often a great bunch of people. That's about it, really. Had some good laughs.

Cons

It all starts off fine, they reward your hard work for a few months and then once you're all settled in, the rot starts. Logistics are a joke, unsuitable properties used as stores, happy to spend countless millions of pounds on a massive purpose-built distribution warehouse but retain a fleet of aging ex-Woolworths wagons driven by agency staff who don't speak a word of English and can't read a map. Your delivery could turn up at literally any time of day, and when it does, don't expect it to be in state worth selling. Waste management is off-the-scale, so much stock gets damaged before it even arrives, don't even get me started on the perishable goods, stock rotation non-existant, multiple product recalls every week. Company couldn't give two hoots about stores that have been open for longer than a year, all focus goes to new stores to keep up the shiny impression, reality is that 99% of their stores are falling apart and in disrepair. Quite a few are not fit for purpose with multiple health hazards (asbestos, etc), and generally not safe to work in. The management structure down to store management level is a complete joke, complete lack of communication on a daily basis, conflicts of interest, mixed messages, personal agendas run high. Middle management (supervisors, etc) often caught in the middle and turn into backstabbing, two-faced creatures who will say and do anything to justify their meaningless position in day-to-day operations.

Pros

There are none even the 10% is rubbish compared to other places

Cons

Almost everything pay if its correct you are lucky, hours have gone down since starting here in November last up to xmas was great but after xmas hours went down the management say because the takings have gone down.the management are always back biting and behind our backs slagging us staff off when things go wrong which is a lot of the time its always the staff at fault ..never management..when things or stock goes missing stock control here is a joke , for shoplifters its heaven. but its never the fault of the managment maybe profit protection should look at the manager of the store.
