Pros

New store had a positive feel (bright lights and plenty of colour). Staff rotated roles which kept the job feeling fresh. Flexible working hours were offered with plenty of opportunities for overtime. Appreciated the freedom to make own judgement calls and was shown tolerance and respect in spite of a disability. Wide range of (mostly sociable) customers made shop floor work interesting.

Cons

CCTV stream fed to and monitored by head office created a "big brother" effect. Wages were low (met national minimum) and no incentive provided for working weekends (i.e. increased pay or hours earned in lieu). No-one seemed to know who the CEO was or how B&M was founded which negatively affected ethos (no "common goal"). Break/lunch times given were legal but restrictive.

Pros

You meet some really great people and do have some great opportunities. An OK place to go up in your career.

Cons

The fact you can being doing the exact work as a supervisor but yet not get paid for it as they 'can't afford' it. You get taken advantage of. Holiday pay is horrendous.... Do 40+ hours have a week off and only get your contract which can be as low as 8hrs!!!! Most staff don't take holidays because if it.

Pros

Friendly staff, 10% discount( like that goes far)

Cons

Management don't care about their staff, no moral, everyone is always complaining about the job, no signs or room for progression when you are constantly on recovery, unsocialable hours, I am now left and I am still waiting for my wage 2 months late! Do not work for this store, from what I've seen other stores seem fine but this one is a complete joke and the managers themselves don't look over 30 and scratch each other's heads cos they don't know their earhole from their backside
