Pros

Very clear focus on the direction of the business from the top - real desire to be the best Great forward thinking initiatives

Cons

The organisation doesn't fully live up to it's brand values (internally) - although I beleive this is patchy accross the organisation and some areas are better than others. I happened to be in a function that felt stifled and out of touch with it's people and very disconnected from some of the exciting things going on in other areas of the group.

Some great people...none of whom are managers

Pros

There are some really great people who work for Aviva - kind, smart, helpful - who want to work hard and get on. They've recently made the 20p coffee free. You won't be bullied

Cons

Where to start... In Automatic Enrolment area there is a huge lack of focus. Not going to name individuals, but the problem is less the top managers, but the team leaders underneath them. Management propose ideas such as 'systems thinking' where admin monkeys like me are told we can make changes to the way we work....well this never happens. The team leaders are not equipped to lead, instead they make competent staff underneath them do their work for them. - Team Leaders are obstructive (there are exceptions to the rule) and your pay and progression depends on brown nosing - THE WORST THING: some employees have a sneaky trick (and this is rife through experienced members of staff), whereby they reduce hours to part time, but then do overtime so that they earn more than full-time staff even though they work less hours.

Pros

Got free shares annually. They also did save as you earn which was very popular. As a large company even when I was facing redundancy it was easy to move to another department and felt they wanted to keep people rather than lose them.

Cons

Struggled to get progression within the department I worked. Felt as though your face had to fit and actual skills were ignored.
