Pros

If you enjoy traveling, then this is the company for you. There are many traveling opportunities. In addition, their benefits package is good compared to others in this industry. The people are all very smart. Everyone is very competitive. Avanade is tightly integrated with Accenture and Microsoft. Many of the opportunities come directly from one of it's two parents. There has been a lot of effort to go direct on many projects. For most consultants, there is no need to work in an office. To save unecessary travel cost, consultants work remotely and are travel to customer sites when they have been assigned to a project.

Cons

The promotion process needs to be revamped. Too many good people being held back. One of my biggest gripes was that there was a quota on how many folks can be promoted. In this type of situation, you have many folks who are at "exceeds" that deserve the promotion but only a few are moved forward. Initially, there was also talk of an IPO, however, that seems to have faded by the wayside as the economy turned. The best way to get promoted depends on the type of project you are assigned. High profile projects with executive visibility are the ones that appear to get the most notice and reward.

Pros

Avanade is growing quickly. The company has a good market niche and is building an identity separate from our parents (Accenture & Microsoft). This rapid growth affords terrific learning opportunities and the opportunity to expand your resume. We have a few inspirational leaders that have come onboard in the last couple of years who really care if you are learning new things and about your development. You are heard and the company wants to hear your opinion and input.

Cons

Senior management has no diversity, just a bunch of old white guys. This is not a woman or minority friendly company and has a highly developed political environment. Avanade is the biggest little company you have ever seen. This place is legend for its politics and how cut throat it is. Women are expects to work harder, deliver more, do it faster and are paid a significantly less than men with lesser skills, knowledge and responsibility. Minorities are past over for promotion and opportunities. Opinions are sought but not weighted equal to the men or to those of the old boys club.
