Pros

Good benefits for "quality of life." Given the right leadership alignment one can create opportunities for themselves within Avanade with the solid business case. Great career development model and learning/training repository. Global company provides exposure to international and diverse project work.

Cons

Work-life balance is hard to come by if you have a family or want any time off. Compensation is low to avg and they will take as much as you give, then ask for more. Like most companies of the similar size and model advancement opportunities are based on internal politics over achievements. Leadership is not consistent, some sectors have strong leaders while others have no business being in people/career management of any sort. For an "innovative" technology company, most of the innovation is externally focused leaving internal process and technology antiquated. Since Accenture leads and owns most of the projects, Sr level/Exec advancements opportunities are hard to come by.

Pros

Low stress environment. Very little customer interaction for this position. Free Microsoft Certification Testing. Opportunities to move up within the company after testing completion. Resources and assistance available 24x7.

Cons

12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Leadership does not coordinate well with shared sites.

Pros

Fair work life balance for most projects

Cons

Recruiting is terribly misleading toward non-technical hires. I was concerned that my lack of a technical background would put me at a disadvantage working at Avanade and the recruiter told me verbatim "that will not affect your ability to get staffed or promoted, because you're being hired to a role that doesn't require technical knowledge going in. Anything you need to learn they will train you for." So I take the job. Then, there's a complete lack of opportunities for non-technical BA's in my area that don't know SQL. They say..OK, go learn SQL to get stafffed. Their version of 'training': provide me with a SQL review book that ON THE FIRST PAGE actually says "you will need at least 2 years of prior direct experience with SQL in order to be able to pass the MIcrosoft certification exam, THIS BOOK ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH" so....I take the exam twice and don't pass both times. They seem surprised by this even though I show them the book THAT THEY SUGGESTED and how it says that approach would never work. This led to lots of time not being staffed which makes it next to impossible to get promoted. HAd I know this, NEVER would've taken the job.
