Pros

World-renowned news reporting, dynamic changing environment. Interesting expansions into social media, video, digital technologies. Lofty, open office environment. People with focus and purpose.

Cons

Some bureaucracy as it's an old institution, but even this is being streamlined.

Great training but limiting

Pros

AP journalists have great ethics and there can be a really great team spirit. There is a very healthy aggressiveness in pursuit of the story.

Cons

The AP can really limit what its writers do. It can be hard to do work that falls outside basic breaking news reporting. You have to push hard to do enterprise stories.
