Pros

World wide news organization; very dynamic; dedicated staff; well appointed offices and facilities that are centrally located; friendly staff; opportunity for advancement

Cons

very dynamic environment, must be adaptable, must be self starter, must be able to juggle multiple tasks in parallel, must be willing to work all hours, not enough funding for technology, limited training but very high expectations, managment not always on the same page

Only good if you're working on news

Pros

Good benefits packages including 401K, inexpensive medical packages. Kind coworkers across the US, easily accessible by AP communication systems. Good support for people who have work related disabilites

Cons

If you are not covered by the news unions, there are little to no raises each year. You are rewarded by being given more work, without any extra compensation or time off. It can be hard to get straight answers from people, and you are usually bounced around from person to person. People don't want to be held accountable for the information that they give. Very difficult to advance in the organization. Business model has been wavering during the past two years. This has created a lot of tension between customers and the AP.
