Pros

Fantastic opportunities to learn skills transferable to other news, PR and political consulting jobs. Decent pay and benefits. Congenial coworkers.

Cons

AP can eat an employee like he or she was a good filet mignon and then spit them out. Bemefits have deteriorated significantly since the 1980s.

Very old fashioned

Business Outlook

Pros

If you are passionate about journalism and don't mind old traditions, it can be a respectable place to work. Can be a great place to retire if you don't ruffle any feathers.

Cons

Not willing to think outside the box or do enough research before making decisions. Upper management makes all the calls. HR is ineffective and money isn't great.
