Pros

The salary was fair...the average ranges from 12.00-15.00 depending on your experience. Good cafeteria. vacation hours (about 280) are given to you almost immediately, which can be dangerous because if your department isn't busy you can pretty much schedule a vacation day within a half hour and leave. they have a sweet scheduling system that lets you schedule single or multiple vacation days and you can keep pretty close track of your time and sick time as well. Most managers and co-workers really do want to help you, managers want to help "develop" you and get you promoted because of course it looks good for them too.

Cons

For me it was the repetition of the same call all day that grinded me down. Also the constant surveillance, they have very advanced tracking systems for their calls, they have screen and audio capture so they can pull ANY call from ANY day and see exactly what you did and said. You are required to clock in and out on your phone from every break and when you come in and when you leave at the end of the day. most team leaders have to meet with the department heads weekly and some only monthly depending on their teams performance. I think for this reason all team leads have an excel worksheet for all of their teammembers outlining every "metric" you meet and don't meet.

Pros

Depth of Work- very detail oriented and deep work

Cons

Promotions are all who knows who. No respect for managers or below, its primarily a Director/VP+ company. The people who do real front line work , no one cares about - the organization is become very large and is an ocean. All promotions are pre decided, and internal posting process is a cloak to demonstrate fairness. Its all about if you have a sponser in the system.

Pros

You get paid a salary and you have a place to go instead of the unemployment line. It is close to my home, so I do not have to drive very far. I like the cafeteria food.

Cons

The medical insurance plan is awful, we have a huge deductible and the dental plan is average. They work you to death! Information and paperwork overload! Every second is timed by the computer and the more dedication you show, the more work you get. Forms, forms and more forms to fill out even while you are on the phone trying to give card members excellent service! When you don't participate in certain things that require you to be off the phone, your team leader tells you that you 'are not engaged' -then when you are off the phones to 'be engaged' they tell you you are off the phone too long!! You must do as you are told and never ever question anything, even though all around the building there are signs that read "speak up speak out"- god forbid you should discuss an issue/problem with someone other than YOUR supervisor. You will be considered a trouble maker because the supervisors tell each other who the trouble makers are. Amex does not care about employees even though they say they do; you truly get brainwashed from day one.
