Pros

Offer food credit up to 15$ in cafeteria Office in NYC, NY and Phoenix, AZ Offers remote position Trying to modernize with some focus on industry standards

Cons

The entire company is 70% Indian contractor and 30% full-time employee. which means lack of diversity and cultural differences. Technology is not prioritized because this is a non-tech company. Teams have weak leadership due to tech leads being contractors who can come and go at any notice. When I joined there was no Senior Engineer. Full software development cycle is not usually followed, lacking documentation and testing standards. Growth is not a focus here as compared to US startup companies Overall company moves very slowly in terms of work given with un-clear objectives.

Pros

The benefits were amazing. Training was thorough. Pay was decent, but not enough with what you have to put up with.

Cons

Hours and schedules are horrible. They are not family oriented as they claim to be. They do not allow volunteer hours to help with your community. Management is exceptionally horrible. I had 4 different “team leaders” in less than 6 month time. Each team leader would contradict the team leader before themselves. I constantly feared for my job, especially with the last team leader. She fired 3 people in our group without much explanation. The team leader and her manager actually tried to stop unemployment from one of the employees fired. Luckily, the employee won the dispute. I finally resigned. The customers are not nice. They feel initialed and yell at you for no reason. Amex’s Moto is customers come first. I was told I could be fired from hanging up on an abusive caller. These calls were daily. The worst part, you could also get the same treatment from other AmEx employees. AmEx is unrealistic in their expectations with calls. They want you to keep a call less than 15 minutes, but most of the time you are on hold with hotels, airlines, etc. for at least 30 minutes or longer. This is all while the customer has to wait on the phone with you. They don’t like doing that. AND, most of the time, you are fixing another employee’s bad mistakes. I was put on the highest probation bc of this without warning. It caused me to no longer have bonuses or be looked at for a deferent department or better position. Two out of the four team leaders knew nothing about travel, or how difficult is was to navigate the customers, the programs we were given to work with, or how to just manage a group of people in general. Therefore, they could not help you, just tell you what you were doing wrong. It was up to you to figure out how to actually create an itinerary.

Pros

There are absolutely no pros

Cons

Most of management is clueless about the issues customers are angry about and frankly they don’t care. Customers that spend more money on their card are treated better than others. The company is morally bankrupt. Employees are treated like indentured servants. No flexibility on schedules, PTO, etc. They even dictate when you can use your Paid Sick time ..they seem to think people can control or predict when they will be sick. Team leaders have no accountability…mine was always making a smoothie, getting coffee, cooking dinner , or dealing with children when I needed assistance. When she was available she was unable to grasp the issue I needed help with and I had to spend call handle time explaining it to her. The call review process is completely subjective and they can put you on counseling for trivial issues and then they take your incentive away. Huge waste of 8 years of my life.
