      Great pay and benefits; Terrible Management

      Pay and Benefits are top notch.

      Cons

      Management, especially in Center of Excellence is totally incompetent. Multiple people are "in charge" that 1) Have no business being in charge but were the popular choice and 2) too many in charge so nothing get accomplished. Software process is so scattered that it is very cumbersome and not beneficial to the product. Many times very good suggestions that have worked and continue to work outside of Abbott are ignored because the managers don't understand. Abbott culture has some serious problems for a technology company - selling the chemicals is very obviously the most important rather than having sound technology.

      Good benefits, job tasks were rewarding

      Cons

      Worked on an average of 70 hrs per week. Management's attitude is that this is expected. When I quit I was handed a check - that was it. No exit interview or explanation that my benefits would be cut off once I walked out the door. Upper management is rude and condescending. Never appreciated, told that we will not receive any parties or anything for Christmas. No company picnic for years, no pats on the back.

      Reduction of workforce just to outsource the positions

      Pros

      I absolutely loved working there. I work live balance was amazing. I managements was great. The salary was wonderful. I could not have asked for better coworkers.

      Cons

      Constant lay offs. In my department in particular, the laid us all off. Only to outsource our position to a temporary agency in Detroit to pay those employees $9.00 per hour. Meanwhile the bigwigs in the coming still received their bonuses and merit raise.
