Pros

- High growth business - Interesting and strategic projects - Marketing is done well so there is a lot one can learn - Good work life balance (most of the time) - Well resourced - large budgets, etc.

Cons

- Very hierarchical and bureaucratic, meaning it takes a long time and a lot of approvals to start/complete a project. Can get frustrating. - Limited opportunities for growth, aka they want you to do more work but keep you at the same title and salary forever. Promotions primarily go to white males and no clear criteria is given for what you need to do to advance to the next level.

Pros

- Skills acquired - Benefits - LTIs - Structure - Stability - Good products and services - Vast experience to be acquired - Career development departments that focus on growth

Cons

- Extreme, unhealthy pressure - Shareholders >Employees - Low value of time pay grade (very low work to pay ratio) - Areas/Divisions leading others without knowledge of all markets - VERY top heavy - Overweight in high pay grade leaders needing to justify via immense micromanagement - Career development at snails pace, with realistically low opportunity to actually grow; saturated leadership company

Pros

The CEO is seems like an incredible person from everything I’ve seen. The company is respected.

Cons

Where to begin? First off, if managers are leaving a review to bolster ratings, they should be a bad sign to everyone. Things have been going from bad to worse over the past several years. Here’s some lowlights: You are expected to to work nonstop. There’s maybe 1/3 of the amount of people working in roles and departments compared to what’s really needed. Abbott could care less about you as a person. This was made abundantly clear in their COVID-19 response. They forced everyone back to the office and take attendance daily. There were no exceptions for employees who’s elderly parents live with them, schools not being open, sickly family members, etc. An entire team, people that had been with the company for over 10 years, were ambushed with their termination. They were fired because a higher -up executive didn’t like them. 2 of those people were over 60. All during a pandemic. It’s shameful and disturbing.
