      A solid place to work for

      Pros

      Working in the Bay Area is great. Comfortable 9-5 job. Also get great perks including ordering EAS products as well as pedisure and similac. The benefits for employees is great and Abbott is a very stable company since it is in so many different areas of health care.

      Cons

      Sometimes projects can be very slow and take awhile to complete. The surrounding area of Abbott is not the safest place to be. Abbott needs more engineers so that projects can work faster and so there is more manpower to finish projects.

      Pros

      Friendly people to work with. Was taken on 4 trips away during my year there, good fun. The company spends a lot of money on meeting away like Spain or Europe - got to stay in nice hotels and have nice dinners. Everyone got to get there hair down and really got to socialise together.

      Cons

      Quite dull office environment. Low pay for placement students. I found the office location very remote and there is no much going on out there. Very small choice of places to go during lunch etc. Also quite a small number of people working in the office.

      Abbott a company fated for failure

      Pros

      Some place to experience a very large and dysfunctional corporation. The company has remained profitable, but, has done so as it continues to 'off-shore' good paying jobs at all levels of the corporation. The CEO has routinely placed amoung the highest paid of his peers in Big Pharma. If, you are a young, female college graduate, then the company is actively filling its quota system with your gender. The company financially is managed very well. Just don't let employees stand in the way of meeting the next quarter's dividends.

      Cons

      The corporate culture is one of total myopathy. The company breeds management to believe they are the brightest, most stellar managers in their industry. They are not.The management seeks no one's opinion but their own.The corporation does not have an effective vision and its long term strategy is best summed up by sending jobs off shore ASAP.
